Military Wives Choir and Katy B Set For Grand National

With things well and truly ramping up behind the scenes for the 2014 Crabbies Grand National, race organisers are putting together what they hope will be their most successful festival to date.

It was announced last week that the Military Wives Choir will perform the National Anthem before the Crabbie’s Grand National on Saturday, April 5th.

Members of the choir from RAF Shawbury will lead Aintree in the traditional rendition of God Save the Queen before the big race and according to choir committee member and mother-of-two Sarah Davies, the opportunity is still sinking in.

“The Military Wives Choir is basically a group of normal, everyday women who enjoy singing and now we have been asked to perform at one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” she said.

“We are all thrilled to be able to take part, particularly two of our members, Jo Doyle and Julie Ward, who are both from Merseyside and are really looking forward to singing at The Crabbie’s Grand National at Aintree.”

Organisers have also revealed that Katy B will be headlining the festival on ladies Day, Friday 4th April, and she will perform at Aintree’s Equestrian Centre, following a day of top class horse racing.

John Baker, Aintree and North West Regional Director for Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We are delighted to announce that Katy B will be performing on Ladies Day.

“Katy B is one of the hottest acts in the UK at the moment so we’re extremely excited she has agreed to perform at one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

“This year’s Crabbie’s Grand National is proving to be one of the best ever with it being the first £1 million Grand National.

“With Katy B now performing on the Friday, tickets will be selling fast, so I would encourage people to get their tickets soon so they don’t miss out.”
