UK bookmaker Coral has agreed a five-year extension to its title sponsorship of the Welsh Grand National which will see them will continue their long association with the annual racing event.
The latest agreement will extend Coral’s association with the Chepstow Christmas period marathon to 45 years, making it the third-longest sponsorship partnership in jumps racing.
Andy Hornby, chief executive of Coral, said: “On behalf of everyone at Coral, I can say how proud we are to be involved in one of the longest-running sponsorships not just in racing, but in sport, and we look forward to working with Chepstow and Arc [Arena Racing Company] over the next five years and beyond to ensure Wales’s greatest race maintains its position as one of the highlights of the National Hunt season.”
Phil Bell, executive director south west for Arc, added: “This sponsorship is superb news for racing and Chepstow customers. We are extremely grateful for Coral’s support of the Welsh Grand National and look forward to continuing the longest jump racing sponsorship relationship between a racecourse and a bookmaker. It’s a fantastic partnership that works well for both parties.”
The 2013 edition of the Welsh Grand National attracted the highest number of entries in the race’s history and currently has 88 potential runners still in contention before final declarations are made. Ultimately there will be a whittling down of the number to 25 who will start the race in the renewal which will take place at Chepstow racecourse on December 28th 2013.
