He may have retired after his epic performance in the 2012 Grand National but Neptune Collonges is still a winner in the horsey world where, in a quieter change of pace, he is now a dressage horse – and a winner at that!

The Paul Nicholls trained horse retired in a blaze of glory immediately after the 2012 race and headed off for some much needed relaxation to his owner John Hales’ Shropshire base in the summer.

And instead of languishing a field the 11-year-old grey is now being ridden by Mr Hales’ daughter Lisa and they competed in their first dressage competition on the 18th November at Kingswood EC in Albrighton, where success was, once again, the order of the day as they won the Intro A test with a score of 79.57%.

I doubt that Paddy Power will be offering odds on him any time soon but it is lovely to see him back in action and still winning!
