2012 SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL RESULT
1st Merigo
2nd Auroras Encore
3rd King Fontaine
4th Ballyfitz
Merigo produced a sound jumping performance over the Ayr fences, not surprising when you consider how well he knows the course. The prize money for the highlight of the Scottish National Hunt season was a cool £180,000
Parker said: “He’s got the heart of a lion. He’s a horse that is hard to get fit. He loves Ayr and loves sun on his back. To have won £350,000, we’ve done all right with him.”
Owner Ray Anderson Green, the winning jockey’s father-in-law, said: “To have won it once we were in dreamland but to come back and do it again, I cannot believe it.”
Pre race second favourite ‘Harry The Viking’ faded early on and was eventually pulled up, Ferguson will be hoping that isn’t an omen for Manchester United’s season.
