All the focus may have been on Chicago Grey but Gordon Elliott had also entered Tharawaat who was also guaranteed a spot in the final 40. Owned by Gigginstown House Stud (Michael O’Leary), Tharawaat was just seven years old at the time and was given 10-04 by the BHA Handicapper for the 2012 Grand National.

Tharawaat Racing Silks

Jockey: | Trainer: Gordon Elliott

With 12 career chases under his belt at the time, he was pretty experienced for his age having returned a win or place in 50% of them – three wins, two seconds and a third, though recently his form had been pretty poor with a 13th and two 7th places in his last three races.

Tharawaat is a decent horse but if honest, he really is a two miler and the 2012 Grand National was going to be tough for him but he did himself proud and finished in 8th spot with jockey Brian o’Connell on board.

However, he was not given another entry in 2013.
