Big Scoop6 Winner
A £2 bet landed one lucky punter a £369,000 windfall this afternoon. The bet was placed at Coral Bookmakers in Banbury, the £2 was staked on the ever popular Tote Scoop6.
The Scoop6 is a bet which requires punters to pick out six winners from Saturdays big televised races. The bet is notoriously difficult to land as many of the races on the scoop6 card are handicaps or races for 2 and 3 year old horses with little or no form.
The last horse home in the winners selection was Batonnier, who beat out pre race favourite Broadbackbob, that result also wiped out 19 of the remaining 20 Scoop6 tickets still in the frame, leaving one punter crying with joy and the rest just crying! The full selections are listed below.
After Leg 1 – 1.30 Cheltenham: Bless The Wings – 24,199
After Leg 2 – 2.05 Cheltenham: The Giant Bolster – 5,860
After Leg 3 – 2.20 Doncaster: Big Easy – 2,026
After Leg 4 – 2.35 Cheltenham: Midnight Chase – 327
After Leg 5 – 2.50 Doncaster: Calgary Bay – 20
After Leg 6 – 3.10 Cheltenham: Batonnier – 1
Today’s win was big, but by no means a record, Ron Nicholson won £878,939 for a £4 bet in April 2004. However, today’s skilful punter could win even more on the bet if he successfully picks the winner in the ‘Bonus Race’. Tote scoop6 bets are offered by nearly all the large bookmakers – fancy having a go yourself?
