Grand National 2023 Gets 85 Entries

The 175th edition of the Grand National, which is scheduled to take place on April 15th, 2023 at Aintree Racecourse, is quickly approaching, and the focus is now on the entries.

This year, there are 85 entries, and one of the most notable is Noble Yeats, trained by Emmet Mullins, who is looking to retain his crown after winning the race last year.

However, he could also take his chances with a trip to the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which may impact his chances.

Of the 85 entries, 54 are trained in Ireland, with Gordon Elliott having the largest number of entries, a whopping 21 horses, including Galvin, Conflated, and Fury Road. Delta Work from Gordon Elliott, who finished third last year, is also expected to compete.

Any Second Now, who finished third in 2021 and second in 2022, is returning for his third shot at the title, while Fiddlerontheroof, who finished fifth last year, has also been given another entry.

Henry De Bromhead, the trainer of 2021 winner Minella Times, has six entries this year, including Envoi Allen, Ain’t That A Shame, and Chris’s Dream. Rachael Blackmore, who rode Minella Times to victory, will have the opportunity to choose which horse to ride.

Other notable entries include Mister Coffey from Nicky Henderson and Hewick from JJ Hanlon. The Two Amigos, who finished second in the 2022 Welsh Grand National, has been given an entry, while the estate of the late Trevor Hemmings has entered Cloudy Glen in the race.

JP McManus and Gigginstown are two of the biggest owners in National Hunt Racing, and they have entered eight and ten horses, respectively, for the Grand National.
