Michael Byrne is a conditional jockey based at trainer Tim Vaughan’s yard in Wales and has ridden nearly 50 winners for the yard since joining in 2011.

His first mainstream Cheltenham win came on Buck Magic in 2012 with Byrne saying: “I won at a hunter chase meeting here two years ago on Take The Stand.

“But this is what you work for, day in day out, to get the opportunity to ride in races like this at meetings like this. And to win is just fantastic.”

He is an incredibly accomplished young jockey who is currently second in the race for the Conditional jockey Title, won last season by Lucy Alexander, and has already notched up over 30 wins from 224 runs which is the equivalent to a 14% win rate earning connections in excess of £160K just this season.

When not in demand by Vaughan, Michael Byrne also rides out for trainer Neil Mullholland.

For the 2014 Crabbies Grand National Michael Byrne will saddle Golan Way for Tim Vaughan who sent out Postmaster in 2012 and Saint Are in 2013.
